The Gavel - November 2019
TM Spotlight - Oscar Cecena Oscar Cecena, of Unstoppable Xpeakers, had an idea to share stories of immigration, and wanted to create a place where immigrants could tell stories about their journey of moving to a new country. Oscar considered doing a blog, but it didn’t look right. He bounced other ideas around until landing on a podcast. Joining Toastmasters gave him the confidence needed to kick off the project. ![]() | Meeting MeetUp Stephan Dyer, F51 Area Director and D60 Social Media Chair, has experienced great success for his club with MeetUp. "My experience with MeetUp has been totally satisfactory: we've received 5-7 guests per month consistently for the last 3 years! And it takes little to no time: after you've set up your profile, you automatically set up recurring meetings for the rest of the year and you're good to go! No more than 15 minutes." ![]() ![]() | The Toastmasters Logo Using Old Banners? Name Cards? Logos? Co-Branding? The Toastmasters logo has a proud history. It reflects the organization's growth from a plucky idea and one-man (Ralph Smedley) operation to a cohesive, worldwide not-for-profit. From the start, Toastmasters has continued to provide educational tools in leadership and public speaking. Like any trademarked material, Toastmasters has specific rules around its logo usage. Use of the old logo [and co-branding] is acceptable in some contexts. See the 1933 logo, pictured left above the current logo. Is old logo usage okay? is co-branding? Click here to learn more. |
