The Gavel - December 2019
TM Spotlight- Ellen Chisholm The nurturing framework at High Park Speakers (HPS) Toastmasters Club gave Ellen the confidence to practice telling her own story and to grow in new directions. Thanks to Toastmasters, Ellen can now structure and target her message effectively, keeping her audience engaged. She now enjoys facilitating professional workshops. Having the confidence to speak in front of large groups helps. Recently, Ellen was the Master of Ceremonies at a 200 person recruiting event. Based on the number of referrals and high quality placements that resulted, she was a hit. | Read Ellen's story here. |

Year to Date Newly Minted DTMs Ken Andrews: When I walked into my first Toastmasters meeting in August of 1989, I had no idea of the profound impact it would have on my life. I am grateful for the ongoing trust and support of my fellow members, and I am thankful to be able to call them my friends. | Francisca Epale: I am a former educator who has taught ESL and French in the USA, Canada and China for more than 20 years at all levels of the academic ladder. I deliver my speeches without notes with ease, poise and confidence, [which is helpful in my roles as] an international best-selling author with three published books, an accredited community French interpreter and soon to be Certified World Class Speaking Coach.
