District 60 Toastmasters announces an exciting and diverse lineup of educational workshops and keynote speakers for its 2023 Annual Conference to be held on May 11 and 13 at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto. This year’s theme is Chart Your Future, and true to its theme, the Conference has every element that can augment an individual’s journey in charting their own brilliant future.
The Keynote speaker is Ramona J. Smith who is an international award-winning public speaker and the 2018 World Champion of Public Speaking. She is a powerhouse, who courageously surpassed over 30,000 people to win this illustrious honour. Her stage presence and poised intellectual delivery of various topics has made Ramona one of the most sought-after public speakers in the world. She will join the event in-person and speak about planning for the unexpected. In today’s ever changing world, with so much uncertainty, planning for the unexpected can help all of us navigate our busy lives.
Conference attendees will also have an opportunity to attend:
- three contests (International Speech, Evaluation, and Table Topics), each featuring the six best exponents of those skills drawn from over 100 Toastmasters clubs in downtown and midtown Toronto.
- an exciting array of educational sessions focused on leadership, communication and networking. These are three of the most in-demand skills in today’s job market. The facilitators of these sessions include leadership development professionals and coaches. (And You Should!) – Remove the barriers, discover your creativity, and chart an exciting future; Dishing On Diction – Cooking up analogies for interest and impact; It’s Not What You Say, It’s The Way That You Say It – How to get your ideas, themes, and content to stick with your audiences; Seven Specific Steps For Mentee Success – Leverage one of your most important relationships by learning how to be your mentor’s preferred mentee!; Your Best Self – Clarify your thinking and build on your core strengths using surprising ideas from science and the wisdom traditions; Finding Your Toastmasters WHY – Rediscover your passion, inspire others, and change your life; SEE Your Way to Success – Learn a powerful visual strategy that will keep you moving towards your goals.
- presentation of the Communication & Leadership (C&L) Award for 2023 honouring a non-Toastmaster who has made substantial contributions in the areas of communications and leadership within their community. This year’s winner is Angie Peters, President and CEO of Yonge Street Mission (YSM). Angie has set the organization on a path toward realizing the end of chronic poverty in Toronto in one generation.
