Proper judging is essential to achieving the goal of leaving the participants satisfied that the contest was fair and that the winner deserved his or her award.
This session explains the role of the judges: their purpose in the speech contests and obstacles that get in the way of objectivity. After completing this session, you will be able to identify characteristics of good judges, the difference between judging and evaluating and stumbling blocks on the road to objectivity.
Our Immediate Past District Director, Johanne Von Zuben, will take us through the judging process. As someone who knows the rule book backward and forward, Johanne will get you prepared to judge fairly, consistently, and by the rules!
This interactive workshop will not only benefit judges-to-be but also the contestants, as they learn about the evaluation criteria.
The Area contests for Division C will draw upon the members who have been trained at this workshop to be judges. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to increase your skills and awareness!
