District 60 is part of Toastmasters International’s family of nearly 100 Districts worldwide and serves the area of Toronto and Eastern Ontario, Canada. We are a not-for-profit organization that helps people develop communication skills – public speaking, presentations, event hosting, group facilitation – and leadership skills – team building, evaluation, delegation, event planning, project management.
District 60 serves 5,500 members through a network of 218 clubs across our geographical region. Members hail from all walks of life. Whether they are students, professionals, stay-at-home parents or retirees, members have found that Toastmasters is the most enjoyable and affordable way to gain great communications and leadership skills. Since 1924, Toastmasters has helped hundreds of men and women find their voice:

- Give powerful business presentations;
- Lead successful seminars; and
- Give humorous, informative or special occasion speeches.
Membership in Toastmasters International is open to people 18 years or older. It is one of the greatest investments you can make in yourself, and one of the most cost-effective skill-building, self-improvement tools available anywhere.
What is a Toastmasters club meeting like?
A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. There is no instructor in a Toastmasters meeting. Instead, members evaluate one another’s presentations. This feedback process is a key part of the program’s success. Meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to listening, time management, giving feedback and more.
Members learn communication skills by working through the 10-project Competent Communication manual. This self-paced manual guides you through 10 speeches, each one focused on a basic skill such as body language, speech organization, vocal variety and motivation techniques.
Members also learn leadership skills by performing various meeting roles and working through the Competent Leadership manual. In our learn-by-doing approach, members are not lectured about leadership skills; they are provided the opportunities to perform roles involving leadership skills and responsibilities, together with supportive guidance and mentoring.
Visitors are welcome
Visitors are welcome at any Toastmasters meeting and are always assured of a warm welcome. Visitors and prospective members are encouraged to visit several clubs to observe the Toastmasters program in action and without any obligation. Clubs differ in size, culture, venue, meeting times and lengths, so “shopping around” is a good idea to ensure that you find a club that suits you, your goals and your lifestyle.
