Danforth Pape Toastmasters, invites guests to its open house on Friday, October 21st, 2022 starting at 7 pm, online on Zoom, to meet members and watch a special guest speaker, Costin Manu – actor, director, and arts management professional talk about the lessons we can learn from a stage performer and from the leadership position he held in his career with a speech titled A MANUfactured Life!
Costin Manu is a professional actor, director, and arts management professional. Over the last 40 years, Costin has managed theatres in Canada and the U.S. and has produced over 50 plays and musicals and directed almost just as many, from classics, to Shakespeare, to comedies, farces, and dramas. He has also worked extensively as an actor in theatre and has also played numerous roles in feature films and on television shows in Europe, Canada, and the United States. Costin was also an associate producer on Broadway for the hit comedy Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, and he has taught acting, scene study, directing, and audition technique classes and workshops, as well as courses and seminars on the business side of the performing arts, in both Canada, and in the United States.
“Danforth Pape Toastmasters Club provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills,” says Emanuel Petrescu, former VP of PR for Toastmasters-Danforth Pape. “
After hearing from Costin Manu members and guests will enjoy a regular Toastmasters meeting that will include prepared speeches, Table Topics™ (impromptu speeches) and evaluations.
Club President Vanessa Rich, who has served in various club positions, will be the Table Topics master. “Table Topics are one of my favourite parts of the meeting,” says Sumedha Kulkarni, club member. “This is where guests and members are randomly selected to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.” Other speakers include Michelle Spear, DTM, VP of Education and Club’s Past President.
